mindful yoga mini retreat
– releasing tension, finding ease
Saturday 8 February 2025 – 2:00pm-4:30pm
“A wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon.”
In this workshop we’ll explore and experience how yoga, mindfulness and somatics can help us to remember what our bodies have forgotten. And to relearn how to release, relax and experience a greater sense of ease.
Taking the Somatic approach means that we slow down and drop deep inside. It’s a practice that isn’t done from the outside, instead it works from the inside out. By awakening or reconnecting with this internal awareness, we’re using the brain to take control of the body. It’s a bit like rewiring from the inside out so we can make changes at a deep neuromuscular level.
We shine a light on the whole of our experience and find nourishing ways to repattern those well-worn habits that don’t serve us well. And this isn’t only how we move or hold our bodies. As well as the physical it includes the mental, emotional and energetic parts of ourselves.
‘Soma’ means the living body in all its glorious wholeness. Even – or particularly – when that body feels neither glorious, nor whole. The movements tend to be low and slow, in order to feel safe, to be fully present so we can start to find and change what needs changing.
As always, the somatics and yoga will be interwoven with some still meditation and mindfulness practices. Come and experience the simple and profound effects of this lovely practice in a warm and friendly space.
The workshop is standalone, but is also designed as a partner to the April ‘Supporting and Strengthening the Core’ workshop, so why not book on to both and save £10.
No experience of yoga, somatics or mindfulness is needed. This is the perfect opportunity give it all a try.
In person at The Yoga Rooms, £40 or 2 places for £70
mindful yoga mini retreat
– supporting & strengthening the core
Saturday 12 April 2025 – 2:00pm-4:30pm
“Just what I needed to recharge, and unlock my very tight shoulders.”
Our second workshop for 2025 is standalone, but is also designed to build on the February ‘Releasing Tension, Finding Ease’ workshop, so why not book on to both and save £10.
This whole mind and body mini-retreat will revisit some of the releasing and easing work we began before bringing our attention to the centre of the body, particularly the deep muscles that support the spine and the pelvis.
Traditional ‘core’ work often works on a superficial level that only serves to tighten and even exacerbate pain and tension. So here, we’ll take a deep dive to explore how we can balance and strengthen our centre to improve our posture, movement and alignment to reduce wear and tear on all parts of the body and to cultivate lifelong healthy joints and muscles.
As always, the somatics and yoga will be interwoven with some still meditation and mindfulness practices- all wrapped up in a warm and welcoming package, making for a fun and enlivening afternoon.
